Merritt reservoir- The destination for anyone who enjoys great fishing and water sports. A large man-made reservoir with many campgrounds, cabins, trading post, boat rental, and restaurant.
Samuel R. McKelvie National Forest – South of Nenzel, the forest has primitive campgrounds, trails for horses or hiking, and great deer hunting.
Arthur Bowring Sandhills Ranch – Operated by the Nebraska Game and Parks, this working Sandhills ranch was donated to the Game and Parks by Eve Bowring, late wife of Senator Arthur Bowring. It features a museum, tours of the Bowring Home and a log cabin.
Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation - Just to the north along the Nebraska – South Dakota border, the Rosebud Reservation has a museum, local powwows, and beautiful scenery.
